Brock to announce first Marilyn I. Walker Chair

Feb. 8th, 2010

Brock University will officially establish and award the first Marilyn I. Walker Chair in Creativity, Imagination and Innovation this Wednesday.

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 10
   Time: 10:30 a.m.
   Location: Pond Inlet, Brock University

In November 2008, renowned Canadian fibre artist Marilyn I. Walker donated $15 million to Brock University’s School of Fine and Performing Arts — the largest donation the University has ever received. In tribute to the artist, Brock re-named its Arts School the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.

The $15 million gift was endowed in perpetuity to support building the school’s programs, enhancing its facilities and positioning it to be one of the best in North America, if not the world. The school is committed to top-quality learning and research — and toward continuing to build a world-class arts facility.

This Chair represents the first tangible outcome of this vision.
